Privacy Policy

Who we are

The Trinity Throwdown runs functional fitness competitions in Australia. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

• When you register interest, join a waitlist or the VIP list: your name, email address and phone number, and which event you're interested in.
• When you enter a competition: the above, plus your division, team, date of birth, gender, emergency contact and any medical information you choose to give us.
• When you buy a ticket: your name and email address, and the details of your order. Card details go directly to our payment provider — we never see or store them.
• When you volunteer: your name, contact details and availability.
• When you use the site: pages visited, how you arrived, approximate location, and device and browser information.

Why we collect it

To run the events you've signed up for, take payment, send confirmations and event information, answer your questions, keep you safe on the day, and — where you haven't opted out — tell you about upcoming events.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

Our site uses cookies and similar technology to understand how the site is used and to measure our advertising.

• Google Analytics tells us which pages people visit and how they found us. It uses cookies and reports to us in aggregate.
• The Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram) records actions such as viewing an event page, registering interest, or buying a ticket, so we can measure our advertising and show it to people likely to be interested.
• Meta Conversions API. We also send those same actions to Meta directly from our servers rather than only from your browser. Where this includes information that could identify you — such as your email address or phone number — it is converted into an irreversible code before it is sent. Meta uses it to match the action to an account and cannot recover the original from us.

You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on, and control ad personalisation in your Facebook and Instagram settings. Your browser's own settings can block cookies. Blocking them will not stop you registering, buying a ticket, or competing.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only where it's needed to run the events:

• Payment processing — Stripe, to take and manage card payments.
• Email and messaging — the providers who deliver your confirmations and our newsletters.
• Analytics and advertising — Google and Meta, as described above.
• Hosting and infrastructure — the providers who run our website and database.
• Event partners — where a competition is run with a partner or at a host venue, and only what they need.

We do not sell your personal information.

Information sent overseas

Some of these providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and Europe. We only use providers we consider capable of protecting your information to a standard consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Marketing, and how to stop it

If you give us your details we may email you about our events. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately. You'll still get emails you need — a ticket receipt, a change to an event you've entered — because those aren't marketing.

Keeping it safe, and how long we keep it

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. We keep it while you're involved with our events and afterwards where we need to — for tax and accounting records, results history, or to deal with an insurance or safety matter.

Photography and filming

Our events are photographed and filmed, and those images are used to promote future events. If you'd prefer not to appear, tell us before the event and we'll do our best — though in wide shots of a crowded venue we can't guarantee it.

Children

Where an entrant is under 18, we need a parent or guardian's consent, and we'll deal with them about that entrant's information.

Seeing what we hold, and correcting it

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Write to info@competitionexpo.com and we'll respond within a reasonable time. We may need to confirm who you are first.

Complaints

If you think we've mishandled your personal information, contact us at info@competitionexpo.com and we'll investigate. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes

We may update this policy. The current version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
